From the very beginning...
Lou Kulis, Sr.

It’s safe to say that a love for automobiles has been in Lou Kulis’ blood from the very start. His father recalls observing Lou’s early fascination with cars, while, as a toddler he would sit and watch them for hours on his grandmother’s steps. Although his love of cars was obvious at an early age, it wasn’t until he bought his first mini-bike at age 10 that his insatiable curiosity for fixing and modifying engines began.

In 1984 Lou began his career as an apprentice at a local service station. By May of 1985, Lou passed all 8 ASE certifications to become an instant Master Mechanic. After obtaining ASE certification by age 20, Lou sought a more challenging and rewarding position at a major auto dealership in Woodmere, Ohio. During his 16 year tenure, Lou retained his Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in all categories pertaining to automotive repairs and was also certified in the advanced ASE certification which pertains to emission repairs. This last certification enables him to perform service repairs under the Ohio E-Check guidelines. Additionally, Lou has over 20 years of experience rebuilding and servicing automatic transmissions and is one of the only certified Maserati repair specialists in the state of Ohio.
Even while working fulltime at the dealership, Lou routinely performed general maintenance and repair work for family and close friends in his backyard shop. Word of mouth referrals started rapidly coming in and soon Lou began accepting all customers. It wasn’t long before he found himself putting in more that three hours each evening, four days a week, in an attempt to keep up with the demand for his services.
Realizing the need to service a growing customer base in Mentor, Ohio, Lou decided to put his 20 years of experience in service repairs, service sales and management to work for his own repair facility (Lou Kulis Automotive Services).
From the very beginning Lou has remained committed to providing the same personal care and prompt service that proved so successful in his backyard shop. He is passionate about what he does and takes great pride in educating his customers on every aspect of the service experience. Lou believes that every customer should be treated with dignity and respect and will personally see to it that their concerns are given his personal attention. His commitment to honesty and excellence in customer care has led to the creation of a unique "Bill of Rights" and "Management & Mechanic Code of Ethics."
By providing uncompromising customer care, reliable and convenient auto services, Lou hopes to build long-term relationships with customers. His hassle-free approach over the years has resulted in lasting friendships with customers.

At age 14, Lou Kulis Jr. discovered his love for fixing and repairing cars in his back yard while helping his dad (Lou Kulis Sr.) work on a Chrysler. As the son of an ASE Certified Master Technician, Lou Jr. has—for as long as he can remember—shared a love for automobiles. Whether it was tinkering with project cars or riding recreational vehicles, it's fair to say that auto repair and tuning is in his blood.

After attending Ohio State University in the fall of 2002 for two semesters, Lou Jr. returned home to pursue a career in automotive repair and began the process to become an ASE Certified Technician‹a distinction he achieved in the fall of 2004. Since then, Lou Kulis Jr., has gone on to receive an ASE Advanced Master Auto Tech & Heavy Medium Truck Certification. Lou Jr. enjoys the challenges of working on a wide variety of vehicles and is always up for a difficult project.
When Lou Jr. is not hard at work at Lou Kulis Automotive Services, he is busy building and tuning cars. You might even catch him at the Thompson Raceway on any given weekend. In his time away from cars, Lou Jr. also enjoys shooting pool and playing video games.
